Mikri Thalassa. Commissioned by and dedicated to Adrian Hooper and the Sydney Mandolins, the title is from the Greek and translates “Little Sea.” One of the influences for the work was Greek folk song, in particular a mournful song of the sponge-fishers from the island of Kalymnos in the Dodecanese. Both accessible and haunting, Mikri Thalassa has been recorded by the Sydney Mandolins on Jade JAD CD1048 and has been included in many live performances both in Australia and the U.S.A.Pages: 7 (score), 2 (parts, each), 8˝” x 11”
