Chaconne for String Quartet. One of Walter Bricht’s last works, the Chaconne demonstrates a continuation of the development of his late Germanic style into more astringent and chromatic areas, though maintaining an essential tonality. It is cast in a rather extended single movement and contains a number of sections, each based on the falling chromatic motive stated at the outset of the work.
